This philosophy articulates the commitment of “The Dooples.”  “The Dooples Project” is an enterprise designed to meet the demands of our challenging world by infusing education and entertainment with the spirit of the child.  It is a non-institutionalized, early childhood (ages infancy to eight) multi-media program that teaches literacy and numeracy by instilling a sense of awareness and discovery that will become an essential tool for growth and development.  Unlike other projects that also recognize the need for change in our learning environment, “The Dooples” stands alone in its commitment to de-emphasize teaching, and to instead, tap into each child’s endless fascination with his or her own powers by employing a series of pro-active, “learn by doing” experiences.

 

Current advances in the electronic information and education arena, coupled with the growing desire among parents to provide enriched stimulation for their children, create the ideal platform for “The Dooples.”  The children’s marketplace is exploding, as it is being re-defined.  With the advent of the digital age, it is imperative that the role of the participant become proactive. With its adaptability and compatibility to all facets of modern media technology, “The Dooples” needs to take its place among the leaders of this new, exciting, and booming frontier.

 

The Dooples, are a happy group of writing instruments who live in the Land of Doo, and personify the conviction that to learn is to do and to do is to learn.  The inherent faith in the human spirit is implicit in its design as well as its appeal.  The value of making mistakes, success through collaboration, tolerance, and understanding are just some of the life lessons that the Dooples impart.  Through various formats (animation, print, toys, computer applications, live performance, etc.) the child joins the Dooples on the joyful journey of life and learning.

 

 

 

The Dooples are a community of animated writing tools whose purpose is to motivate and enhance the learning process.  These adorable characters take the children though fun-filled fantasy adventures.  This systematic approach to learning, achieved through “edu-tainment,” is the perfect vehicle for the young child.  The Dooples enhance an appreciation for literature, language, mathematics, science and social studies/skills as a total experience.  Herein lies the broad base appeal for both the home and school markets.

 

The Dooples are fully developed characters designed to motivate and enrich the learning process.  They are a group of animated writing instruments that transcend the curriculum to provide a connection between academics and esthetics through the use of fantasy.  They provide the storylines for a learning program designed for preschool, kindergarten and first grade.  ( age 2 through 8).

 

This versatility can be used to teach values:  issues such as promoting self esteem, distinguishing right from wrong, risk - taking, making mistakes, comparing differences between generations, and understanding diversity.  In addition, The Dooples develop a strong conceptual base that relates to other important life skills that include survival, health and saving the environment.

 

  Classrooms:

 

In classrooms, children communicate with Dr. Hunter through “Meet the Author” video conferences, reading silently and as a group, they write their own versions of the continuing adventures, draw and make their own models of the characters, perform live performances of the adventures and make up ‘Doople’ games.


At home, children seem to not be able to put the books down, asking their parents to read the stories over and over.

The Dooples’ stories began in Dr. Lynn Hunter’s first grader classroom as a method to motivate young children to read and learn. Each day she told a new part of the escapades of the Dooples and the alphabet. By the end of the year, the children were reading and loved learning!

The Dooples adventures have been apart of classrooms in classrooms around the world. In addition “Meet the Author”readings through videoconferencing with classes around the world. With rhyme, rhythm and repetition, the stories, videos and music make learning entertaining and fun, the stories, videos and music make learning entertaining and fun,. The Dooples’ adventures enchant children from pre-kindergarten hrough grade three.

 

 


          Early Learning…Reading&Mathematics

The reading and writing process unfolds as children learn literacy skills and strategies when the Dooples find a mysterious message that they have to decode.  “…Once upon a time…a long, long time ago there was a land so far away that nobody has yet to find it. The name of this land was “Doo” and the people who lived there were very friendly writing tools, called “Dooples.”  While playing, one day at the Inka Plinka River, The Dooples saw something moving on the other side. Then they found something very strange. They did not know what to do? Then they thought and thought. Finally, they decided to go to Mt. Petrooky, the tallest mountain in the Land of Doo, to see the wise one, Mr. Dooba Dee Doo for answers - and so this amazing animated adventure begins…
